I started writing my book "Pennygirl's Rescue", about rescuing my dog almost 5 years ago! We had just lost our dear dog, Tobydoodle, a beautiful medium sized Labradoodle. His coat was a gorgeous, curly, apricot colour. Losing him pretty much tore my heart out. He was actually, technically my daughter's dog though he stayed on with my husband and I for 6 years after my daughter's career took her hours away and she was unable to find an apartment that allowed dogs. Sadly, Toby passed on July 22, 2020, a very emotional, sad day indeed for our entire family. In mid August of that year, we decided our home was way too quiet, lonely and sad. We wanted to welcome a new dog into our family! I had seen adds on tv and social media about the huge number of homeless dogs in need of a Forever Home so we decided to look online (it was the height of Covid) for a dog to adopt. I was immediately drawn to Niagara Dog Rescue(NDR) because my Dad had grown up in the Niagara region and so had I, in a big way because my Nana, Dad's Mom lived in a tiny town between NOTL and Niagara Falls, called Queenston, and we visited very often!
